I am very fortunate that I have naturally long eyelashes.  The problem is, they are blonde, so you can’t even see them unless I apply about 10 layers of mascara.  I go through a tube of mascara unbelievably fast, and was sick of spending so much time just putting on mascara.  I thought to myself, there has to be some solution for this!  After spending a few minutes on the internet, I very quickly came upon eyelash extensions.

I felt like all my prayers had been answered!  How amazing and perfect, all my problems would be solved!  I looked up some salons near my home that did them, and after reading reviews & testimonials from women who had them done, I made an appointment.

I have to say, going into this place without any makeup on made me so uncomfortable.  I just kept reminding myself that everyone comes in like this, and in just a short amount of time I would have gorgeous eyelashes!  I decided to go with the mink eyelashes, the woman who did them said they were the best quality.  She started by placing these sort of gel eye mask type things on my eyes that would help to keep them closed during the application.  Honestly, they felt like torture.  They were unbelievably uncomfortable and made my eyes water like crazy.  I found out later that I was likely allergic to them and in the future would need to use just tape, not the pads.  I tried my best to sit still and keep my eyes closed, it was definitely not easy.  It took about 2.5 hours in total, we had to keep taking breaks because my eyes were watering so bad, and they needed to be dry or the glue wouldn’t stick.

Once we were done, she handed me a mirror.  WOW.  My eyelashes looked incredible!!  I was so excited thinking about the fact that I was going to be waking up looking like this from now on, without even putting on any makeup!  They really looked amazing.  And best of all, they looked natural.  I didn’t want big fake looking lashes, they were exactly what I wanted.

For the first few days I swear I couldn’t stop looking in the mirror!  I couldn’t believe how great my eyelashes looked, and I was saving so much time not having to put on any mascara in the morning.  My experience with eyelash extensions started off great.  However, things began to change after a few days.  One big issue I was having was that I couldn’t really touch, rub, or clean my eyes!  You have to be very careful or the eyelashes will come off.  I love the feeling of scrubbing my entire face, and it was driving me crazy that I couldn’t do that.  About 5 days in, they began to shed.  My gorgeous eyelashes started to look not so great…

In fact they started to look awful.  My eyes seriously looked jacked up.  It’s recommended that you get a fill every 2 weeks, but there was no way I was going to wait that long.  And in case you aren’t aware, eyelash extensions are not exactly cheap.  My initial application was $140, and then the fill would be $80 each time.  At this rate I was going to need a fill every week, and also keep in mind a fill can take an hour to an hour and a half.  This whole thing was starting to become very expensive and an inconvenience.  I decided the best thing to do was get rid of them.  I took my makeup remover wipes and scrubbed my eyes until they had all come off.

I know plenty of women that are addicted to eyelash extensions, and get their fill every 2 weeks and really couldn’t be happier with them.  Hey, good for them!  Unfortunately, they just didn’t work for me.  I think it would be fun to get them for a vacation or something, but not as a regular thing.  If I want luscious lashes I’m now more than happy to glue some on for the day Image may be NSFW.
